Psychology Services across our Levels of Care
Body
Inpatient: All inpatients at our flagship hospital will visit with a member of our inpatient psychology team. The initial visit helps us understand how we can support your overall recovery and work with you to set goals for your emotional, cognitive, behavioral and family needs. We offer support for anxiety, depression, anger, sleep issues and coping with trauma.
After the initial evaluation, to ensure a successful rehabilitation process, you will continue to meet with a dedicated member of our psychology team as clinically appropriate.
Our inpatient psychology services include:
- Individual therapy
- Family adjustment and support
- Education and support groups for patients and families
- Neuropsychological evaluations
- Co-treatments with other disciplines
- Supportive communication with the team to advocate for patients
- Family meetings
Inpatient Neuropsychological Evaluations
We provide inpatient neuropsychological evaluations as recommended by your inpatient rehabilitation team.
What to expect in an inpatient neuropsychological evaluation:
- Brief interview: Our clinical neuropsychologists will begin by interviewing you and your family member/caregiver.
- Neurocognitive assessment: Assessments involve a combination of tests of thinking using paper, pencil or computer, along with questionnaires. These tests assess learning, memory, language, attention, visuospatial functioning, mood and adaptive functioning.
- Interpretive feedback session with recommendations.
Day Rehabilitation: Patients at our DayRehabCenter® locations also receive psychological support from our dedicated team of psychology staff based at our sites throughout Chicagoland. As a DayRehab patient, you may receive referrals for ongoing psychological care based on your individual medical and emotional needs.
Outpatient: We offer neuropsychological evaluations to patients in outpatient care. Learn more about outpatient neuropsychology services.
Pain Management: In our Pain Management Center, patients benefit from an interdisciplinary treatment program that includes individual and group-based psychological support to navigate the emotional and psychological challenges of coping with chronic pain.
