Shusuke Okita, PhD, is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Näder Center for Rehabilitation Technologies and Outcomes Research at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. He works under the supervision of Dr. Arun Jayaraman. His current focus is on a project that utilizes wearable sensors and machine learning (ML) techniques to automate, illuminate and predict rehabilitation therapy for lower extremity function in stroke survivors during their inpatient care.
Dr. Okita earned his Master of Science degree in 2021 and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of California Irvine in 2023. He has a strong interest in wearable technology, and his PhD research also centered around the development of wearable sensors for upper extremity rehabilitation at home.
