Translational Cancer Rehabilitation Lab

Our lab studies the physiologic mechanisms that lead to change in physical or cognitive function for patients with cancer. In particular, we are currently focused on cachexia syndrome, a muscle wasting disorder that affects a majority of patients with cancer, along with many other chronic disease.

About Me

Julia Marks, PA-C, is a physician assistant and research scientist who serves as the weekday nocturnist at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, covering the inpatient adult floors by night, and performing clinical research by day. She received her master of science in physician assistant studies from the Northwestern University and has over a decade of research experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation both at Northwestern University and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Julia is currently a research consultant for Dr. Ishan Roy's laboratory, which focuses on developing new therapies for rehabilitating from cancer, cachexia and other chronic disease related impairments.
