About Me

Sangeeta Driver, MD MPH, is Chief of Brain Injury Medicine at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. She is double board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. Driver holds an appointment at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as Assistant Professor in the Department of PM&R.

Dr. Driver leads attending physicians within The John and Kathy Schreiber Brain Innovation Center, ensuring high quality, interdisciplinary care. Together with the Clinical and Scientific Chairs, she helps translate research into clinical practice, advancing the Shirley Ryan Abilitylab Vision. She cares for a variety of patient populations, including those with traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries as well as disorders of consciousness (through our Amicous® Program).

Dr. Driver has also developed expertise at the intersection of clinical brain injury medicine and disability policy implementation. She serves as Chair of Shirley Ryan Abilitylab’s Utilization Review Committee and supports efforts related to policy and governmental affairs. Dr. Driver currently serves on the Board of Directors of Access Living, a non-for-profit Center for Independent Living for the City of Chicago.

Dr. Driver completed her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Chicago and spent one year of her training focusing on health economics and social policy at the London School of Economics. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Public Health degree in health care management and policy at the Harvard School of Public Health. She has served as a Congressional Health Fellow on Capitol Hill for Congressman Danny Davis and as a member of his Health Care Advisory Task Force in Chicago, was a Regional Co-Director for Doctors for America, a previous Albert Schweitzer Fellow, and a member of the American Medical Association Council on Legislation.
