About Me

Hollis Bell, MD, CPE, is an Attending Physician at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Throughout the course of her career, she has served a variety of patient populations — from pediatrics to geriatrics — across the continuum of rehabilitation care. To best treat patients, she translates research into novel solutions to maximize functional outcomes.

Dr. Bell began her career at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (now Shirley Ryan AbilityLab) as an Attending Physician. She went on to serve in progressive leadership roles at other institutions and healthcare systems, most recently with Mercy Health Systems based in St. Louis, Mo.

In addition to her work at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, she is also Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Bell earned her Doctor of Medicine from University of Maryland. She completed her residency in PM&R through the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University/Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. She is board-certified in Brain Injury Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and PM&R. She also is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE).
