About Me
Valerie Hamilton has worked with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, formerly RIC, since 2012 and has most recently been appointed to the position of Therapy Manager of the Think + Speak Lab. Her professional focus is on managing therapy operations and practice, and on facilitating knowledge translation and adoption of best practices, with expertise in dysphagia and aphasia. She has presented at the international American Speech-Language-Hearing Association National Convention for the past 3 years, and has been an invited lecturer by North Park University and Northwestern University in the areas of dysphagia, dysarthria, and aphasia. She is also a clinical researcher in the area of dysphagia and was awarded the RIC Brown Fellowship for dysphagia research in inpatient populations with dysphagia secondary to stroke and traumatic brain injury in 2015. Currently, she is working with the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation grant "Objective Dysphagia Outcome Measures in Spinal Cord Injury".
