About Me

Dr. Kathleen Stevens has been involved as a rehabilitation nurse since 1977. Dr. Stevens work and research interest has been focused on rehabilitation nursing care of patients with spinal cord injuries. She has worked at the Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at New York University, the acute Spinal Cord Injury Unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. She has for multiple years authored chapters in the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses Core Curriculum (Technology and Rehabilitation, Acute and Chronic Complications in Rehabilitation, Acute and Chronic Pain Management). Dr. Stevens has authored chapters in a text, Gerontological Nursing by K. Mauk, in the first and second editions. Dr. Stevens has been a frequent presenter in courses on rehabilitation nursing, care of patients with spinal cord injury and care of patients with stroke. Dr. Stevens was a member of an international delegation that presented a course on rehabilitation care sponsored by the UN Commission for Refugees in Nicosia, Cyprus. Dr. Stevens research interest is ventilator management of patients with spinal cord injury.
