About Me
As Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Senior Vice President, Dan O’Mahoney harnesses the power of technology, data and analytics to help patients get better, faster.
Dan oversees critical areas underpinning Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s success — developing and implementing broad-based, organization-wide upgrades to data and analytics capabilities to support the organization’s growth. He ensures the technology infrastructure continues to meet organizational needs while also enabling team members to leverage data, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to the fullest so that they, in turn, can pursue more discoveries, deliver better clinical outcomes and capture operational efficiencies.
Dan joined Shirley Ryan AbilityLab as Vice President, IT, in 2019. Since then, he has built the organization’s team and infrastructure to best support research, clinical and business operations. Among many other accomplishments, he was a key architect in the introduction of a new enterprise resource planning system. Additionally, he has rolled out Microsoft 365, improved patient financial systems and sponsored many clinical implementation projects.
Prior to his time at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Dan was engaged in other mission-driven work, serving as Vice President of Technology for the Shedd Aquarium and Assistant Vice President of Technology at NorthShore University Healthsystem. Before that, he served in the U.S. Army for two decades, retiring as a Major.
