Researching Sensory-specific Peripheral Stimulation
The purpose of this research project is to understand the neurophysiological mechanisms of peripheral electrical stimulation (PES) in modulating tremors, sometimes seen in Parkinson's disease.
Research Project
Precision Medicine Originating From Patient Derived Neurons
This project studies precision neurotrauma medicine with patient-derived iPSC-neurons to determine patient specific factors affecting clinical outcomes
Research Project
Co-Robot Controllers for Human-Like Physical Interaction and Improved Motor Learning
This research project is working on improving the interactions between robots and humans by learning from human paired physical interaction to apply to human like robotics.
Research Project
Workshop on Job Accommodations Video Series
On Oct. 29th, 2019, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research (CROR) invited job seekers with disabilities and employers to attend an all-day, interactive workshop on job accommodations.
Research Project
Improving Arm Movement After Stroke Using Wearable Device
The Slutzky Neuroprosthetics Lab Team is evaluating a new rehab therapy using wearable devices and a video game interface to improve arm movement after stroke.
Research Project
Communication Building with Brain-Machine Interface
BMIs have been able to restore basic communication by allowing patients to slowly spell out individual letters by decoding particular signals, most commonly evoked potentials in response to some stimulus.
Research Project
Brain-Machine Interfacing for Hand and Arm Movement
The ultimate goal of this project is to restore hand and arm function to people with paralysis from neurological disorders. Brain machine interfaces - BMIs, which decode electrical signals recorded from the brain, offer one way to bypass the area causing paralysis and intuitively reanimate paralyzed muscles via electrical stimulation.
Research Project
A Pilot Investigation to Determine if Pathogens are Present on Gel Liners Worn by Amputees
This project will explore the correlation of potentially harmful bacteria to various liner conditions such as age of the liner, material properties, and patient hygiene practices.
Research Project
Join the CHAT - A Community of Hand Ability Training
The Perez Lab team exclusively offers FREE hand training for ANYONE with a neurological condition that affects the function of their hands, including but not limited to: Spinal Cord Injury (Any level), Stroke, MS, Parkinson's, ALS, etc. We use a combination of games, cutting-edge robotics, sensors, and upper body exercises to help people improve the function of their hands in terms of pinching, grasping, and dexterity. Come by any time 8:30AM-4PM Monday-Friday and meet us!
Research Project
Neuromodulation Research Study
Using transcranial magnetic stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and exercise to expedite recovery from cervical spinal cord injury.
Research Project
Clinical Trial: Time Distribution of Computer-Based Script Training in Aphasia
The purpose of this project is to conduct a series of intervention studies to examine the rate and extent to which persons with aphasia learn and subsequently forget, following one or more treatment sessions.
Research Project
Evaluation of the effectiveness of robotic gait training and gait-focused physical therapy programs for children and youth with cerebral palsy: A mixed methods RCT
This study consists of a randomized control trial (RCT) and a qualitative study.
