Stretch for People with Parkinson's Disease at Burr Ridge
Body
The 30-minute Stretch Class at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's Burr Ridge location addresses one of the main symptoms of Parkinson’s disease-muscular rigidity. Rigidity leads to increased stiffness and tension, decreased mobility and poor posture. Stretching exercises have been shown to improve muscles flexibility, reduce joint stiffness, muscle spasms, provide chronic pain relief and can help counteract the postural changes caused by Parkinson's disease. This class will emphasize stretching exercises and breathing techniques to allow your rigid muscles to relax and to safely improve your functional range of motion in all major joints.
All levels of physical ability and fitness are welcome!
