The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Center for Aphasia Research is constantly investigating ways to improve speech and communication disorders.
Body
Aphasia is a disorder that causes an impairment in speech and language abilities. Aphasia disorders result from damage to portions of the brain responsible for language. Aphasia commonly occurs due to brain damage from a head injury or stroke.
In addition to providing aphasia rehabilitation for inpatients, outpatients, and day rehabilitation patients, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab provides a month long Aphasia intensive therapy program to increase the possibility of improved communication.
