Project: Wearable technology for measuring everyday experience in infants with cerebral palsy

Dr. Kretch is an associate professor of research in the division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. She earned her PhD in Psychology from New York University and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Southern California. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at USC.  She has worked clinically as a physical therapist in early intervention, school, and outpatient pediatric settings.  With the support of the C-STAR Pilot award, Dr. Kretch aspires to build an independent research career.  Dr. Kretch’s overall research program aims to characterize how neuromotor disorders like cerebral palsy impact everyday experiences, how these disruptions in everyday experience affect developmental outcomes, and how to intervene to modify everyday experiences to promote development. Establishing the methods investigated in this pilot project is a necessary first step to provide the tools to support this research. The pilot data will improve the competitiveness of future NIH grant proposals, advancing independent research programs and supporting significant contributions to pediatric rehabilitation research and practice.
