In January, members of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Therapeutic Recreation (T-Rec) and Sports & Fitness teams accompanied a group of adaptive skiers on a trip to Crested Butte, Colo.

There, participants enjoyed an intensive week of adaptive skiing in the Colorado Rockies. They benefited from ideal weather conditions and tons of fresh powder. This ski trip was Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's first to the Colorado Rockies — but hopefully not the last!
“We hope to make this ski trip an annual one, just like our summer mountain bike trip,” said Mike Wehner, manager, T-Rec.
Adaptive athletes were selected for the trip based on their expressed interests in skiing and travelling out of state. In addition to Mike, other Shirley Ryan AbilityLab team members who participated were Sarah Cassel, recreational therapist, T-Rec; Ricardo Lara, exercise physiologist, Adaptive Sports & Fitness Center; and Kesley LeFevour, business support manager, Outpatient Therapy and Adaptive Sports & Fitness Center.
