Interprofessional Teamwork—Inception, Execution & Collaboration

Description: The sudden and world-altering COVID-19 pandemic thrust the medical community into the spotlight. Medical facilities, interprofessional care providers and patients had to instantaneously shift their practice, guidelines and expectations. This webinar will follow the journey of one acute inpatient rehabilitation unit from the inception of their COVID-19 unit to the present day highlighting the successes and opportunities for change along the way. Interprofessional research and case studies will be discussed to reinforce the collaborative nature of the COVID-19 unit as well as demonstrate opportunities to be prepared for future situations of crises. 

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to: 

  • Define the roles of team members within the COVID unit
  • Discuss research that required interprofessional collaboration to determine best practice for novel diagnosis
  • Analyze decisions made by team at inception of unit versus current practice
  • Synthesize knowledge for improved planning and prediction for interprofessional collaboration for future challenges
