About Me
Sarah Borgeson is a highly successful, intuitive and creative fundraising executive with over fifteen years of experience leading fundraising teams in Chicago's non-profit sector including in health care, university and housing and community development settings. Sarah joined Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s Advancement team in January 2016. As Senior Director, Principal Gifts and National Strategy, Sarah serves as a liaison to help supporters envision and fulfill their philanthropic impact. She plays an integral role in the organization’s $100 million "Accelerate Ability” campaign and also leads the Stewardship and Annual Giving team.
Sarah is recognized as an industry expert in philanthropy. She has co-authored articles for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on partnerships in the field of community development finance and has served as a speaker for the University of Chicago, Chicago Women in Philanthropy and the Chicago Fundraising Summit. She has served as a grant reviewer for the Chicago Community Trust and currently serves as Chair of the grantmaking Holy Trinity Mission Endowment Fund. Sarah holds a Master of Arts degree in Ethics from the University of Chicago Divinity School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. She serves as Board Co-Chair of Chicago Women in Philanthropy and is a member of the Upswell Accelerator Committee, based in Washington, D.C. In 2019, Sarah was recognized with the 40 under 40 distinction by the international Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.
